As a trainee, he spent 4 years at JYP Entertainment but was told he was not going to debut. After switching agencies to CUBE Entertainment (큐브엔터테인먼트), he made his debut as a soloist (under the stage name AJ) with his first mini-album, "First Episode: A New Hero". However, his stage name became a point of controversy as it was the same stage name of former PARAN member AJ (now known as Siyoon).
After discussing his future with the agency, he re-debuted in October 2009 as BEAST's main dancer, lead vocalist and visual with their first EP, "Beast is the B2st". They initially received attention as some members had failed in previous auditions and were even called a "recycled group". However, the group has achieved significant commercial success and critical accolades and is one of the most awarded groups of all time at the Golden Disc Awards, the Seoul Music Awards, and the Melon Music Awards.
In late 2016, their contracts with CUBE ended, and they decided to create a new independent agency called Around Us Entertainment (어라운드어스 엔터테인먼트). They were not able to keep the name trademark, and in March 2017, he re-debuted as part of HIGHLIGHT with their EP, "Can You Feel It?".
He enlisted for his mandatory military service on April 18, 2019, and was discharged on November 18, 2020. After his release, he continues to promote as part of the group, as an actor and appears as a dancing mentor in survival shows.

She debuted in 2015 as APRIL's vocalist, lead dancer and visual with their 1st EP, "Dreaming". The group had a few lineup changes right from the beginning losing leader Jeon So Min who felt uncomfortable with the group's concept and left to join KARD. After their 2nd EP, "Spring", health issues began affecting her performances, and she decided to take a break to rest. In late 2016, it was announced that she was leaving APRIL in order to pursue an acting career, debuting with a role in the drama "Momin's Room" just a few weeks after departing the group.
In 2017, she joined the singing survival show "The Unit" and finished in 5th place, thus, securing a spot in the temporary project group UNI.T and re-debuting later that year with the group's EP, "Line". UNI.T disbanded after 5 months, and she returned to her agency and continued acting.
Controversy emerged when, in early 2021, a person claiming to be her brother posted several accusations against the other APRIL members, claiming his sister's departure was due to being severely bullied by them, at one point even attempting suicide. The company, DSP Media, immediately denied the accusations and promised to take legal action against her and her brother. However, the group faced heavy backlash and began losing scheduled events, endorsement deals and even acting roles.
A few months later, she posted a message on her IG backing the claims and accusations against her former groupmates and she also stated that the company was not allowing her to terminate the exclusive contract. APRIL disbanded in 2022, and she has focused on her acting career, appearing in dramas such as "Legally, Dad" (2020), "Summer Boys" (2021), "It Was Spring" (2023), among others.
