Shibasaki started his career as an assistant director on "Moero!! Robocon," and was later promoted to chief assistant director for "Kamen Rider 555" from episode 31, following a recommendation from Suzuki Nobuhiro.
He made his directorial debut at the age of 28 with episodes 43 and 44 of "Kamen Rider Kabuto." In 2009, he advanced from assistant director to director during the production of "Kamen Rider Decade."

Inspired by Jackie Chan's film "Drunken Master," Sakamoto joined the Kurata Action Club in high school and began working as a stuntman at age 16. He began his U.S. journey in April 1989 as an exchange student, initially studying English at California State University, Los Angeles. He later transferred to Glendale Community College and then to the University of Southern California. During this time, he worked as a personal assistant to Jeff Pruitt on the film "Undercover." His work was recognized, leading to an offer as an assistant stunt coordinator, which he accepted despite initially lacking a work visa.
In 1992, Sakamoto co-founded the stunt team Alpha Stunts and began learning wire action techniques from the Jackie Chan stunt team in 1993.
He is not to be confused with Sakamoto Koichi associated with Kadokawa Shoten and Fujimi Shobo.
