Chen was born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and attended Kaohsiung Municipal Chien Chin Junior High School and Kaohsiung Municipal Siaogang Senior High School. She pursued a degree in Textile Design at Fu Jen Catholic University, graduating in 2002.
Her acting career includes roles in both Taiwan and Mainland China, starting with a guest appearance in the Hong Kong TV series My Heart Will Go On. After a period of intense work, she took a break from acting following the release of Scare 2 Die and traveled to Japan. She faced challenges upon returning, including the suspension of a new drama and the end of her management contract, which led to a year-long hiatus from the industry.
In 2008, Chen ended her contract with Dorian Management after nearly seven years and made her return to acting in September with the drama The Story of Time on CTV. She ventured into screenwriting in 2011 with her first work, Dog Dog Love, co-written with Lin Qi Le.
Chen's personal life includes a past relationship with Lee Wei, with whom she broke up in 2008. She married plastic surgeon Xue Bo Ran on September 26, 2016, in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
